'Murder On The Orient Express' Review: So disapointed!
π Murder On The Orient Express π Review π 6/10 π
Directed by Kenneth Branagh
Starring: Kenneth Branagh, Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., and Willem Dafoe
Tonight I went to see Kenneth Branagh's take on the Murder on The Orient Express, and I have to say I was sorely disapointed, it was a slow, tedious 2 hour's that I will never get back.
Yet again we have the problem where the trailer is signifacantly better than the film itself, luring you into a false belief that it's going to be good!
I went into it super excited, really intrigued, hoping for a clever, suspenseful murder mystery, but the film failed on all accounts. The pacing was so slow, every minute felt like ten, every time it felt like it was getting interesting it would find a way for you to shortly lose interest (I remember looking at my pic-a-mix box at least ten times throughout).
Kenneth Branagh did the double, he was the director and protagonist, Hercul Poirot, for me he failed on both sides, on the directing side, he had a brilliant cast and failed to get them to mesh, and he didn't really do anything to make this film stand out from the classic. On the acting side (in short) he tried way to hard and just really didn't suit this iconic role.
The rest of the cast were great, they all (apart from Cruz) gave great performances individually and the best was young Daisy Ridley, but, it just wasn't enough, it was just a boring film, no suspense, no surprise, nothing! Don't recommend and shouldn't of been remade!
