'American Assassin' Review: Dylan O'Brien is a badass motherfluffer!

Image
🌟American Assassin🌟Review🌟7.7/10🌟 Directed by Michael Cuesta Starring: Dylan O'Brien, Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch, Sanaa Lathan, Shivar Negar and Scott Adkins So I have a rather funny tale to tell... Last night, me and the girlfriend took a trip down to the local cinema to see Kingsman: The Golden Circle... So we bought are tickets, went to our screen (5) sat there watching all the trailers and all the other bollocks they like to show us for 20 mins and then it came up saying.... AMERICAN ASSASSIN, so I'm instantly like what the Fu**, are we being fobbed off by the cinema, I didn't pay to see this, what's going on? Then I notice it actually said screen 2 on our tickets but by then are actual film had already started so we had to stay and watch this one. Morale of the story: Should of gone to specsavers! Anyway digress... The film was nowhere near as bad as all these other people are making it out to be. Yeah it's got a few week points in the story

'Inglorious Basterds' Review: Bizarre, Bold, and "bloody" brilliant!

Image
🌟Inglorious Basterds🌟Review🌟10/10🌟My 5 10/10 Movies Review Week🌟 Directed by Quentin Tarantino Starring: Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Melanie Laurent, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Michael Fassbender and Daniel Bruhl Bizarre, bold, bloody, and brilliant, there's no denying that Inglourious Basterds has all the vim, vigor, and excitement of every other Quentin Tarantino film. It's also a glorious exercise in style over substance (which Tarantino proves he is great at doing time and time again) with the Nazi high command obliterated in spectacular fashion in a movie theater as the action playing out up on the screen begins to pale in comparison to what actually happens inside that theater. Tarantino has said that the film is his fantasy of "how cinema can save the world," and while that's a naive sentiment, it's one that's played for action and laughs here. Pitt gives a blood-soaked comedic performance as the grunting, grim Raine, and he's match

'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Review: Clever, funny, and true to the Spider-Man spirit!

Image
🌟Spider-Man: Homecoming🌟Review🌟8.7/10🌟 Directed by Jon Watts Tom Holland stars as Spider-Man, alongside Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. Clever, funny, and true to the Spider-Man spirit, this take on everyone's favorite web-slinger is utterly entertaining. The world was understandably optimstic of yet another Spidey reboot, but in this case, it was definitely the right call. Even more than the Toby Maguire and much more than the Andrew Garfield takes on the wall crawler -- as good as those were -- Spider-Man: Homecoming really captures the tone of the teenage side of it. A large part of that is thanks to the fact that, for the first time on the big screen, Peter is being played by an actual teenager. Holland is believably eager, gawky, and geeky as Peter, who's almost as excited to work on Ned's Lego Death Star as he is to fight the real bad guys. Also, because it's (mercifully) not an origin

'Stand By Me' Review: Forever and always a classic!

Image
🌟Stand By Me🌟Review🌟My 5 10/10 Movies and Review Week🌟10/10🌟 Directed by Rob Reiner Starring Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O'Connell The film, whose plot is based on Stephen King's novella The Body (1982) and title is derived from Ben E. King's eponymous song (darling, darling, stand by me) tells the tale of 4 young boys from a small town in Oregon who go on a hike and stumble across a dead body of a child. The film's pure brilliance ultimately lies in its all-embracing realism. Stand by Me goes to considerable lengths to identify the issues and accurately portray the pressures that lead to the rude awakening of young teens pretty much everywhere. In many ways, the conclusion of their quest signifies the end of innocence (or at the very least, childhood) for the main characters, as they're never quite the same after making their horrific discovery. Stand by Me accurately portrays the sometimes brutal and always painful proces

'Into The Badlands' Season 3 introduce new faces from the likes of GOT, Iron Fist and Westword!

Image
AMC has announced five new additions to the cast of the hit martial arts series Into the Badlands for their upcoming third season. Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) and Lewis Tan (Iron Fist) join as recurring guest stars. Sherman Augustus (Westworld), Babou Ceesay (Guerilla), and Ella-Rae Smith (Clique) join the cast as series regulars. We previously saw Augustus as Nathaniel Moon, a former regent who fought Sunny last season and wound up losing his hand, now joins forces with the Widow in her war against Baron Chau and the other barons. Moon hopes to avenge his honor by hopefully killing Sunny one day. Ceesay will play Pilgrim, “a zealous warlord who is on a quest to recover a mysterious artifact from Azra that could tip the balance of power in the Badlands.” Smith will play Nix, a powerful teenager working for Pilgrim. She has dark magical abilities, similar to the monks. Chapman plays another powerful teenager named Castor, who also works for Pilgrim (I'm intrigued

'Atypical' Series Review: A netflix series you need to see!

Image
🌟Atypical🌟Netflix Series🌟Review🌟8.6/10🌟 Atypical is a coming-of-age dark comedy television series created and written by Robia Rashid for Netflix. It focuses on the life of 18-year-old Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist), who is on the autism spectrum. In order to start dating -- and hopefully find love -- Sam will need to be more independent, which also sends his mother, Jennifer Jason Leigh (who we all must know from her brilliant role as Daisy Domergue in Quentin Tarantino's brilliant Hateful Eight) on her own life-changing path. She and the rest of Sam's family, including a scrappy (loving) sister and a father seeking a better understanding of his son, he must adjust to change and explore what it means to be "normal." Sam (Keir Gilchrist) is absolutely brilliant, he is the most adorable, sensitive, funny and most importantly the most honest guy you would ever meet. Keir has done an amazing job portraying his character. I instantly fell In love with his brut

First photos from 'The Irishman' have been dropped!

Image
We have some wicked pictures of our beloved gangsters reunited courtesy of the nosey Press, who caught Martin Scorsese, Joe Pesci, and Robert De Niro earlier this week in the midst of filming for Scorsese's Netflix-sponsored The Irishman. Seriously, seeing these guys several years down the road and there still rocking the no-bullshit made man expressions and shades, it's almost like they never left mobcity! De Niro is playing Frank Sheeran, Pesci plays Bufalino, and Al Pacino has been cast as Jimmy Hoffa. Scorsese has been working on making the film for years. Netflix has given him a $100 million budget to do it up right. Which you know he will (Taxi Driver, Goodfellas) The Irishman doesn't have an exact premiere date yet, but will be out in 2018. If these photos are any indication, Martin Scorsese is approaching the story with his usual grit and precision, and i can't wait. Plus, we don't get to see anywhere near enough of Joe Pesci these days. I

Here's 10 of my favourite director's and films they have directed!

Image
Over the years when you love films you learn to love certain traits and styles of certain directors, the magic they can make on and off the screen! Here's 10 of my favourite directors that I learned to love! 1) Quentin Tarantino - Reservoir Dogs 2) AlFred Hitchcock - Psycho 3) Martin Scorsese - Goodfellas 4) Stanley Kubrick - The Shining 5) Wes Anderson - The Grand Budapest Hotel 6) Edgar Wright - Baby Driver 7) Christopher Nolan - The Dark Knight 8) Guillermo Del Toro - Pan's Labyrinth 9) Bong Joon Ho - Snowpiercer 10) Danny Boyle - Trainspotting

'Psycho' Review: Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece!

Image
🌟Psycho🌟Review🌟10/10🌟 Here is my review on what is pretty much the best film I have seen in all my 24 years and it's my personal favourite, due to this, this week I'm going to be doing reviews on 5 of my favourite ever movies! PSYCHO is a classic, and for good reason. Everything about this film is perfection, from the gorgeous black-and-white cinematography to every single performance to the famous Bernard Herrmann soundtrack to some of the most suspenseful and frightening scenes ever known to film. Anyone who considers himself a film buff must see this one if you haven't already, it's my favourite film, alongside 'Stand By Me'. There is some real violence in this film, but it's not at all explicit, making it in some ways scarier than the gore-fests that are so popular now. It's a film that works so well on so many levels. It's truly scary, but it's also a psychological mystery and a couple of different kinds of love story. All the p

Here's 10 of my favourite TV actors and characters over recent-ish years!

Image
Here is a list of 10 of my favourite tv actors and characters over recent-ish years. I feel that every single actor I have listed here is absolutely brilliant in there respective roles, in every single way and I completely love the way they portray there character's: 1) Mads mikkelsen - Hannibal Lecter - Hannibal - This guy was definitely born to play the role of Hannibal the cannibal! Every thing about his character shouts class. He even makes eating people look good! 2) Aaron Paul - Jesse Pinkman - Breaking Bad - I think the first time I saw Aaron Paul in anything and I instantly fell In love with his work! 3) Peter Dinklage - Tyrion Lannister - Got - Everyone's favourite Little dude, just a genius and a badass who is hand of the queen, maybe the smallest guy in the room but his voice stands taller than the rest! 4) Joseph Gilgun - Cassidy - Preacher - My favourite Irish vampire that holds the casts chemistry together singlehandedly! 5) Gaten Matarazzo - Dusti

'The Limehouse Golem Review: Bill Nighy is on top form!

Image
🌟The Limehouse Golem🌟Review🌟7.5/10🌟 Well crafted movie with a great cast of mid tier actors/actresses, good aesthetics and some nicely twisted elements made for an enjoyable watch, even though from my point of view, the ending was pretty clear cut (figured it out by the second act). It was rather obvious where the film was headed, yet the journey remained suspenseful and filled with little hidden gems here and there to keep you intrigued. Bill Nighy is one great actor, his presence on screen is a tour de force, so much seriosity, that you take everything in that little bit deeper and it leaves behind quite an impact with every line he speaks. He was perfectly cast here, as the other actors too like Douglas Booth , Eddie Marsan and the lead actress Olivia Cooke who you will probably remember from the hit series 'Bates Motel'. All in all the film wasn't half bad, I rather enjoyed it. The gore was great, the plot was ok, the dialogue was good as well as the tone

The official trailer for 'Tomb Raider has dropped and Alicia is killing it!

Image
Alicia Vikander is stepping into the role of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider -- and it looks like she's absolutely killing it! Warner Bros. released the first action-packed trailer for the film Tuesday evening, and we think it's safe to say, this is the 28-year-old actress' most badass role to date. In the trailer, Vikander, dressed in a gray tank top and olive green pants, channels the fierceness of the old school raider Angelina Jolie, who played the character in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and the sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. "Close the tomb once and for all," a voiceover says, as Croft leaps, ducks, dives and slides around various structures. "The fate of humanity is now in your hands." The trailer looks pretty epic, everything you want to see in a (game adaptation) trailer we see, but as we all know trailers can be very misleading, hence why I normally try to avoid them... But as I'm hoping this movie can duck

Netflix's 'The Punisher' gets it's official trailer and it's even better than I expected!!

Image
While the second season of Netflix's Daredevil didn't quite live up to the first, Jon Bernthal's take on antihero The Punisher was a "bloody" standout addition. The streaming company wasted no time at all, announcing the haunted criminal-killer would get a show of his own, since we've only really gotten teasers. Today (like literally 4 hours ago), Netflix dropped The Punisher's first full trailer, giving us fans a glimpse of a family-friendly Frank Castle before the deaths of his wife and child set him on his criminal-slaughtering path. The trailer portrays Castle tortured over the sins of his past, as his part in black ops CIA missions leads to the deaths of his wife and kid. With no street heroes in his way, it seems like The Punisher will kill his way to the truth. If you wanted a darker take on the antihero with a body count to match, this looks up your alley. Naturally, we still don't have a solid release date, but I'm saying November 2017

'A Ghost Story' Review: Beautifully heartbraking!

Image
🌟A Ghost Story🌟9/10🌟 Directed and written by David Lowery Starring Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck Last night I watched one of the most beautiful, haunting films I have ever seen and it has truly touched my heart! This magnificent and unique movie casts a fine, delicate spell; many may resist it, but those who go along with it may find themselves profoundly moved, transported to a soul-stirring, poetically beautiful place. In A Ghost Story, writer/director David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Pete's Dragon) has created a deceptively small movie, confined in a very tight space (it uses the squarish, 1-to-1.33 screen aspect ratio), with very little dialogue and pretty simple, spare effects. (The ghost is very deliberately nothing more than just a guy in a sheet.) But this simplicity is used to reveal true, brutal emotional reactions. Long, slow, still shots allow viewers to reflect upon grief, death, life, love, loneliness and other things, while more startling t

Marvel Vs Dc: 'The Defenders' Vs 'Arrow' Who wins?

Image
🥊🥊MARVEL VS DC🥊🥊THE DEFENDERS VS GREEN ARROW🥊🥊 Well I'm not to sure about this one, but I think I'm gonna have to go with The Defender's for my winner. Arrow is always up and down, it's really good, then bad, then ok, then really bad, then great etc. I have always felt that it's maybe due to Amell who for me isn't the best pick for the titular role, he is ok but nothing special and he doesn't really resemble the comic character we know that much, plus he is just a lil bit cheesy. But I like the majority of the other character's, good and bad, like there take on Deadshot, Diggle, Deathstroke, Malcolm and a few others. Plus 8 times out of 10 the story is intriguing and I thoroughly enjoy it, the only thing I struggle with is Amell. Great show but can be severely annoying at times. The Defenders on the other hand is great, it started off a little shaky but slowly started to grow into a wicked series, the chemistry was brilliant between the four

New poster and teaser released for the reboot of 'Tomb Raider

Image
Fifteen long years after Angelina Jolie, the young and beautiful Alicia Vikander takes over the role of the sassy adventurer in the reboot of the franchise. The film had not been given news of its progress since for a while until this new photo of the Swedish actress leaked a few weeks ago. Since, I have been hoping for a trailer, hoping that we will be able to see Vikander in the iconic role soon. Now It is almost done. Not a tape-full announcement unveiled for the time being by Warner, but a first official poster and a teaser to announce the trailer of tomorrow. The reboot focusing on the beginnings of Lara Croft, these first images for a clear signal from the colour (in a typographical rather ugly) : “Her Legend Begins / the legend begins" (dun dun dun). Directed by the Norwegian Roar Uthaug (The Wave), the film, largely inspired by the reboot of 2013 on consoles, will show a new version of the origins of the adventurer. The film will be released on our screens on t

Huge star Matt Damon is being shrunk down to miniature size for new film 'Downsizing

Image
Huge Hollywood star Matt Damon is being shrunk down to a miniscule size as part of a plan to reduce the planet’s overpopulation. And he’s being joined by Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig. Nope unfortunately for us it is obviously not a real life science project, its all for a new film: Downsizing tells the story of a near future in which some humans undergo an irreversible operation that leaves them 0.063% of their original size. On the plus side: they suddenly become very wealthy as they now own masses of resources relative to their size ($52,000 suddenly translates to $12million). On the down side: they can’t sign documents with a normal-sized pen and I have a feeling there might be a few more downsides. It’s an interesting slant on The Borrowers/Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! concept from the mind of Alexander Payne (The Descendants) and his frequent writing partner Jim Taylor that also looks like being an amusing satire. And if the premise hasn’t re

MARVEL VS DC, TV SERIES: 'IZOMBIE' VS 'IRON FIST'

Image
🥊🥊MARVEL VS DC: TV SERIES🥊🥊 🥊🥊IZOMBIE VS IRON FIST🥊🥊 So here is another one for you guys and gals! What series do you prefer? If you watch Izombie and and watched Iron Fist then I'm sure you will all agree with what I am about to say. Iron Fist lacked almost everything in the series making it for me (and I think the majority of the population) the worst Netflix/Marvel series to date. Finn Jones struggled to fulfil the full potential of the immortal Iron Fist and the majority of the time it just felt like he didn't belong there, the script wasn't great and Finn also didn't help make that any better. He looked the part but couldnt really act the part. There was some good action sequences especially when Colleen Wing was involved but other than that there was not much to remember. All I can say is thank God he redeemed himself in The Defenders! Izombie is definitely the winner for me I have watched all series so far and I'm still just as excited to s

'Annabelle: Creation' Review: More of the same!

Image
7.5/10 Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Garry Dauberman Starring: Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto Director David F. Sandberg takes on this fourth film in the Conjuring franchise, and although it offers little at all that's new, it's skillful and spirited that it mostly works. Sandberg (who also helmed the clever Lights Out) proves that tried-and-true tricks and scares continue to be extremely effective especially if they're performed with such artistry and enthusiasm. Plus it helps that spooky dolls are, like spooky clowns, a sort of horror mainstay (they'll always be scary). Sandberg sets up shop in a remote farmhouse, filled with dark rooms, a dumbwaiter, a stairway lift, doll parts, and a creepy barn guarded by an old and creepier scarecrow. He smoothly glides his camera through it all like a nightmare that's happening in front of us. Annabelle: Creation does use plenty of familiar gimmicks, such as the t

The third instalment of 'John Wick' get's release date!

Image
Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have announced a May 17th 2019 release date for the third installment in the cult action series “John Wick”. Keanu Reeves is expected to return again for the third and potentially final outing for the hitman whom everyone loves and who is now on the run following the ending of the second film. The second film opened in cinemas February this year and ultimately grossed $171.5 million worldwide.

'Transformers: The Last Knight' Review: Before you watch prepare yourself for a Michael Bay Sh**fest!

Image
4/10 Directed by Michael bay Featuring Mark Wahlberg returning from Age of Extinction, with Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Glenn Morshower all reprising their roles from the first three films, with Laura Haddock and Anthony Hopkins both joining the cast. Director Michael Bay's latest big-budgetTransformers sequel is completely unnecessary, utterly unintelligible, and overwhelmingly unsatisfying unless your only expectation is more explosions and battles and no story. Transformers: The Last Knight totally wastes the considerable talent of Academy Award winner Hopkins, who's reduced to a simple stereotype of a rich English lord who bosses around his persnickety robot butler, Cogman (aptly voiced by Jim Carter of Downton Abbey), and must inform others about his secret society. Plus, the dialog is insipid (much is made of Sir Edmund saying "dude"), and the plot is simultaneously confusing and uninteresting. Even the addition of Izabella (Isabela Moner), a new o

'It's Review: Absolutely terrifying, Skarsgard is sensational!

Image
🎈It🎈Review🎈10/10🎈 Firstly I would like to congratulate 'It' on winning my first 10/10 score since I started back in July! NOW here Is why 'It' got awarded the first 10/10: I am not afraid of clowns one bit, I find them rather hysterical (obviously) and ridiculous looking, so I never really had the heebiegeebies, nor have I ever really understood why people are afraid of them... Well that was until I saw Bill Skarsgard's take on Pennywise the dancing clown who has come back to the small town Derry to haunt 7 young outcasts who must unite together to overcome there deepest fears. Holy f****** sh** he was terrifying, like seriously terrifying, like OMG terrifyingly terrifying. You just cannot fathom how scary he was. The hole way through he just had you so engulfed in the movie while also simultaneously making you feel petrified to even look at him nor listen for that matter. He was so creepy and unsettling so kudos to Andy Muschietti for the great casting c

'Baby Driver' Review: Edgar Wright is at it again!

Image
9/10 Written and directed by Edgar Wright Starring: Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, and Jon Bernthal Edgar Wright's newest film captures everything you can possibly love about going to the movies. It's filled with wonderful characters, great car chases, enough style for a dozen cool flicks, and yes, a soundtrack that is better than sex. While using a familiar story template (the Driver & Drive), Wright completely makes it his own, infusing it with his love for music and his film geekiness. Wright has a perfect filmography at this point and definitely deserves to be ranked as one of the finest directors of the past 20 years. This may be his best movie yet. The cast is note perfect, the only downside is that Jon Bernthal's role is almost more of a cameo (considering the top billing). Ansel Elgort is wonderful as Baby, bringing an instant likability and purity to the character. The supporting cast is equally great wi

First look: David Harbour as Hellboy! He looks badass!

Image
On Tuesday, a new image of David Harbour’s Hellboy was released, giving us fans our first look at the character since the reboot film was announced. The image was posted on both the film’s official Twitter page and by Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy. Mignola summed up his reaction with a simple, “Holy crap.” Harbour, known for his role as the awesome sheriff, Jim Hopper on “Stranger Things,” posted a black-and-white image of himself as the character captioned, “Please allow me to introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste…” which references the Rolling Stones song “Sympathy for the Devil.” The tweet was later deleted. “Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen” is scheduled for release in 2018 and will co-star Milla Jovovich and Ian McShane.

'The House' Review: Wtf did I watch! Ferrell and Poehler are utterly disappointing!

Image
4.5/10 Directed by Andrew J. Cohen, and co-written by Cohen and Brendan O'Brien Starring: Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas,Ryan Simpkins, Nick Kroll, Allison Tolman, Rob Huebel, Michaela Watkins, Cedric Yarbroughand Jeremy Renner So two parents (and there neighbour/friend) can't afford to send there teenage daughter to the school she wants to go to, so what do they decide to do? They decide to start there own illegitimate casino in there friends basement. Not being funny, I don't really know where to start with this film. I love Will Ferrell I think he is comedic genius, some of the one liners, jokes, and facial expressions this guy pulls just make him perfect for comedy films... BUT NOT THIS ONE! The House was dog**** to be brutally honest. The material was terrible. There was Lacklustre performances from both Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler who are normally known for there top notch comedy, but that was not to be seen in this flick. I can honestly say I h

Marvel vs Dc week: 'Marvel's Agent's of Shield' VS 'Gotham'! Who wins you decide!

Image
🥊🥊MARVEL VS DC WEEK: TV SHOWS🥊🥊 🥊🥊MARVEL'S AGENT'S OF SHIELD VS GOTHAM🥊🥊 Well this one is a tricky one, I like them both but Don't love either of them. I wasn't really a lover of shield at the start but it started to grow in me the more it went on, yeah it was a bit cheesy and yeah it was not amazing but Coulson and his crew where pretty awesome and there endeavours where always entertaining. I really struggled to get into shield at the start but Fitz, May and Coulson helped me get into it and start enjoying it and as the series went on the more I enjoyed. Now On the other hand Gotham I really liked at the start, the first 2 seasons were actually really entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Then there was the 3rd season... I was a bit disappointed to be honest it just lacked the quality of the first although I still love certain characters such as the young Bruce, Alfred, and Penguin. I'm really looking forward to both upcoming series, but I

'Going in Style' Review: Freeman, Arkin, and Caine still have so much to teach the younger generation!

Image
6.7/10  Directed by: Zach Braff Starring: Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin. Freeman, Caine, and Arkin might have thee average age of 82, but they prove that they still have lots to teach the younger generation of actors about comedic timing, charm, and just simple on-screen camaraderie in this feel-good remake. Going in Style is a mix of the friendship chemistry in Ocean's Eleven and the morality behind the crime lesson in Hell or High Water (without the excessive violence). Sure, there's a cop -- in this case, an FBI agent played by Matt Dillon, who is a bit of a tool if you ask me -- but this isn't as much a cat-and-mouse crime thriller as it is a humorous look at how three wronged older men decide to take revenge on the company that ruined their retirement and make it right, not only just for them. The three main characters just want to visit their children, have bad coffee and eat pie at there favourite diner, and finish paying off their mortgages

'Despicable Me 3' Review: Carell is on point but the film isn't as good as the first!

Image
7/10 The film is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed by Eric Guillon, and written by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. Starring: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig and Trey Parker. Despicable Me 3 is the third installment in the hit Despicable Me franchise about the reformed supervillain Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) and his new wife, Lucy (Kristen Wiig), who are both Anti-Villain League agents. This time around, Gru, Lucy and their three girls are invited to Freedonia to meet Gru's long-lost twin brother, Dru (also Carrell). Predictable but fun, this third installment is an amusing, kids film with a mix of 80s humor, and irresistibly silly minion jokes. The double dose of Carell -- one dark and bald (Gru), one with a head full of blond hair and a different accent (Dru) -- is hilarious. The twin material (they try to "trade" places for a dinner, fooling absolutely no one but remaining endearing all the same) is funny and easy for even the smallest of audiences

'The Mist' Season 1 Review: The potential of King's classic story has been squandered!

Image
6.5/10 The Mist is an American science fiction-horrorthriller television series developed by Christian Torpe for Spike. It is based on the horror novella of the same name by author Stephen King. Starring: Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Frances Conroy. It really is such a shame, the potential of King's classic story is squandered on an uninspired script and several bland performances. The premise is solid; a deadly mist engulfs a town, trapping its characters together. There's a lot of entertainment fodder to be mined as alliances are formed and relationships tested, allowing the best and worst of humanity to take the center stage. However, this series barely allows us to get to know the people of the town and create a bond with them, before the mist starts ripping them apart in increasingly bloody and violent ways. As a result, the impact of these deaths is quite minimal. What l

Stephen King's 'IT' has been killing "it" this opening weekend!

Image
Stephen King’s It has been killing 'It', it has been released in 46 markets across the globe and is breaking opening first day records left right and centre. It has taken $16.1M so far on 10,560 screens bringing its running cume up to a whopping $25.7M for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. It has logged the biggest opening day ever for a horror film over here in the U.K., Brazil, Russia, Australia, Holland and even across Eastern Europe. In Spain, the grosses for the movie were more than double of The Conjuring and Annabelle and it logged the biggest opening day for a Warner Bros. film this year. This comes as the dancing clown with the red balloons is breaking records domestically with a three-day take that is set to glide far and high above the $100M mark.  According to deadline it Captured a big 86% share of the Top 5 films in the market, over here in the UK we opened to an estimated $4.5M just on Friday from 1,342 screens, becoming the biggest opening day ever

Marvel VS Dc: Preacher VS Jessica Jones?

Image
🥊🥊MARVEL VS DC WEEK: TV SERIES!🥊🥊 🥊🥊PREACHER VS JESSICA JONES🥊🥊 Preacher wins this straight up, no questions asked for me. BUT... I am not saying at all that Jessica Jones is not good, it is amazing and David Tennant stole the show with a spectacular performance as Killgrave... JESSICA!!! Krysten Ritter was a perfect match for the role of Jessica, and I'm not gonna lie I kind of have a little crush on her due to that role. The series was amazing and I'm super excited for the second! BUT... Preacher is more than amazing it's unique and all of the above, I absolutely love Preacher and every aspect of the series. The main part of the series I love isn't the spectacular talent they have off screen in Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin, it Isn't the amazing dialogue, nor is it the sensational cinematography or the tremendous Dominic Cooper (Jesse Custer) or Ruth Negga (Tulip), IT IS Joseph Gilgun who plays the absolutely hilarious and awesome in ev

'IT' 2 is already in the works and Muschietti is expected to return!

Image
If you’ve read Stephen King’s novel IT (or failing that, seen the 1990 IT mini-series), you may remember that the section centered on the kids — the part portrayed in this weekend’s new movie — is only half of the actual story. In the second half, the Losers Club reunites decades later as adults to try and finally take down Pennywise the dancing Clown for good. Armed with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 89% and an 8.4/10 IMDB rating, IT is expected to break box office records this weekend and win top grossing horror of 2017 which is currently held by Annabelle: Creation. With that in mind, New Line Cinema is wasting no time in getting IT 2 into theaters as soon as possible (probably in late 2019). One of the first film’s screenwriters, Gary Dauberman (Annabelle: Creation), is signed for the sequel, and IT director Andy Muschietti (Mama) is expected to return as well (though no deal is in place as of this writing). IT was reportedly always loosely planned as two parts.

Creator of Netflix's Daredevil, Drew Goddard to write and direct X-Men spin-off 'X-Force'

Image
20th Century Fox have nabbed the creator of Netflix’s Daredevil, and The Martian screenwriter Drew Goddard to do the double (write & direct) for X-Force, a spinoff film about a team of superheroes led by Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Cable (Josh Brolin), according to a report from Deadline. According to Deadline, the superhero team is a “Black Ops force of down and dirty mutant warriors,” who are more violent than their softer X-Men counterparts. The team will be headlined by Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool, Josh Brolin’s Cable, and Zazie Beetz’ Domino, who are both set to be introduced in next June’s Deadpool sequel. Fox already has a packed schedule when it comes to its forever growing X-Men franchise: X-Men: New Mutants is coming from The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone next April; Deadpool 2 hits theaters in June; and Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix is slated for release in November. There’s no release date yet for X-Force, but it shows that Fox isn’t abandoning its da

Image
2017 has been another huge year for horror movies. Not only have many of this year's genre offerings proved to be hits with critics, but they have also raked in huge bucks at the box office. Annabelle: Creation has been raking in a substantial amount over the last month and now it has officially taken the title of the highest-grossing horror movie of 2017, overtaking Jordan Peele's massively successful Get Out. According to Box Office Mojo, director David F. Sandberg's Annabelle: Creation has officially grossed $255.4 million at the worldwide box office, with the Labor Day weekend receipts added to its already impressive total. That officially puts it above the amazing Get Out, which earned $252.4 million during its box office run earlier this year. Now we have another pleasure to endulge our self with in the horror genre, Andy Muschietti's take on IT which has just hit cinemas and im already hearing such great things about it which makes me think "IT"

'The Big Sick' Review: Not your typical rom-com! Must see!

Image
8.2/10 Directed by Michael Showalter and written by Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani Starring: Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano, Adeel Akhtar and Anupam Kher Director Michael Showalter's engaging, thoughtful film is most easily billed as a romantic comedy, but it has far more depth and dimension than your typical rom-com. For one thing, Emily is comatose for atleast half the movie, which means Kumail's primary relationships shift to the new, often-shaky ones he's forming with his future in-laws, Beth and Terry and the longstanding but sometimes almost as shaky ones he has with his own parents. Having to step up on his own, with Emily out of the picture, is what finally helps Kumail to grow up and move forward in his own life. It's also what yields some of The Big Sick's funniest and most touching scenes. While early interactions between Kumail and Emily and Kumail and his comic buddies are funny and a tad bit cute if I do say so myself, the

'American Honey' Review: Shia LaBeouf and Sasha Lane are sensational!

Image
8.4/10 Written and Directed by the British filmmaker Andrea Arnold Starring: Sasha Lane, Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough This shimmering, raw, hip-hop hymnal of a film by Andrea Arnold is an American tale that is beautifully original. It's also a road trip movie that puts brilliant but troubled Shia LaBeouf back on the comeback trail as an actor. Star (Sasha Lane) is an 18-year-old from a harsh, impoverished home who runs away with a hard-drinking, pot-toking group of door-to-door magazine salespeople. They drive around the middle parts of the country in a van, stopping in places rich, poor, broken and busted, trying to sign people up for little-desired subscriptions. Star soon finds herself falling hard for the volatile Jake (Shia LaBeouf). Their tumultuous affair is part lust, part chaos, and frantically young and jagged. Perhaps only Elvis' granddaughter could be the leader of this gritty group of misfits. And so it is with Riley Keough, perfectly cast as a trashy bu

'Wonder Woman' Review: Better late than never!

Image
8.5/10 Directed by Patty Jenkins, with a screenplay by Allan Heinberg, from a story by Heinberg, Zack Snyder, and Jason Fuchs. Starring: Gal Gadot,Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, and Elena Anaya. Looking through all my reviews (to date) and realised I missed out one of my favourite films thus far this year. So without further adue here is my review for Wonder Woman: Born to play the role of Wonder Woman, Gadot proves that women can be fierce and loyal, as well as empathetic, in director Patty Jenkins' epic, satisfying origin story. Some might be tempted to dismiss Gadot as just another pretty face or should I say Legs, but -- as hinted at her scenes in Batman v Superman -- she rises to the challenge of playing Diana as both ridiculously strong and sweetly naive. She's ready to fight, but she's even more focused on vanquishing evil for the sake of peace. Unlike Superman, Batman, or any of her male DC fellows, Wonder Woman isn

Sam Rockwell to star alongside Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Amy Adams as Goerge W. Bush in 'Cheney'

Image
Oliver Stone’s 2008 George W. Bush biopic  W.  was perceived as one of the year’s despicable box office flops . Richard Dreyfuss played Vice President Dick Cheney in that film, and soon, Christian Bale will do the same in upcoming movie  Cheney  (formerly titled  Backseat ), a biopic from director Adam McKay the man behind Th e Big Short  and  Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy . Other  Cheney  cast members will include Amy Adams (Lynne Cheney), Steve Carell (Donald Rumsfeld), and Bill Pullman (Nelson Rockefeller). The biggest political figure who remained uncast until this week was (muppet) President George W. Bush himself, but we now know  that the role is going to the brilliant, underrated Sam Rockwell.  This is the second politically charged new role for Sam Rockwell this year, as he is also Co-Starring  as a KKK leader opposite Taraji P. Henson in a civil rights drama called  The Best of Enemies .
