'Atypical' Series Review: A netflix series you need to see!
🌟Atypical🌟Netflix Series🌟Review🌟8.6/10🌟
Atypical is a coming-of-age dark comedy television series created and written by Robia Rashid for Netflix. It focuses on the life of 18-year-old Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist), who is on the autism spectrum.
In order to start dating -- and hopefully find love -- Sam will need to be more independent, which also sends his mother, Jennifer Jason Leigh (who we all must know from her brilliant role as Daisy Domergue in Quentin Tarantino's brilliant Hateful Eight) on her own life-changing path. She and the rest of Sam's family, including a scrappy (loving) sister and a father seeking a better understanding of his son, he must adjust to change and explore what it means to be "normal."
Sam (Keir Gilchrist) is absolutely brilliant, he is the most adorable, sensitive, funny and most importantly the most honest guy you would ever meet. Keir has done an amazing job portraying his character. I instantly fell In love with his brutal honesty. From facial expressions to nervous ticks he had it bang on. Jennifer is brilliant as the mum who was so use to being the mum everyone Relied on? Brigett Lundy-Paine is really lovable as the younger sister Casey. Michael Rapaport is also bloody brilliant as the dad that just wants to bond with his son. I bloody love it, it's absolutely wicked and bloody hilarious with a great underlying meaning.
The first season was released on August 11, 2017, consisting of eight episodes. The series was generally well received by critics. It was renewed for a ten-episode second season on September 13, 2017.
