'The House' Review: Wtf did I watch! Ferrell and Poehler are utterly disappointing!

4.5/10
Directed by Andrew J. Cohen, and co-written by Cohen and Brendan O'Brien

Starring: Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas,Ryan Simpkins, Nick Kroll, Allison Tolman, Rob Huebel, Michaela Watkins, Cedric Yarbroughand Jeremy Renner

So two parents (and there neighbour/friend) can't afford to send there teenage daughter to the school she wants to go to, so what do they decide to do? They decide to start there own illegitimate casino in there friends basement.

Not being funny, I don't really know where to start with this film. I love Will Ferrell I think he is comedic genius, some of the one liners, jokes, and facial expressions this guy pulls just make him perfect for comedy films... BUT NOT THIS ONE! The House was dog**** to be brutally honest. The material was terrible. There was Lacklustre performances from both Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler who are normally known for there top notch comedy, but that was not to be seen in this flick. I can honestly say I have never watched a film with Ferrell starring and felt like I couldn't laugh at his jokes, and if I was laughing I was laughing at him not with him, like usual. The jokes were so bad... I really cannot emphasise that enough!

The only good thing I have to say about the film -- which is the reason it has a 4.5 and not a big fat 0 -- is Jason Mantzoukas he was actually rather funny, I have seen him play a similar kind of role before and he seems to have nailed it. He wasn't brilliant, but he was good and he made Ferrell and Poehler look even worse. I look forward to seeing him more often in comedys. I really hope this was just a one off flop for Ferrell because I love him first and foremost and secondly comedys are slowly dieng out, constantly getting bad ratings, shit reviews and simply not cutting it at all. Let's hope he bounced back for Daddy's Home 2!
