Jeph Loeb confirm that Netflix's 'Iron Fist' will be coming back for a second season... soon!

Marvel’s 'Iron Fist', the television series about a young billionaire who kicks-ass in New York City as a member of The Defenders, will return to Netflix for a second season.

Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel Television, made the announcement yesterday during the San Diego Comic-Con panel for Netflix’s The Defenders. The news came after the fans were treated when the main cast of the highly anticipated series appeared together on stage in Hall H to a standing ovation: Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Iron Fist, Sigourney Weaver as the villain Alexandra, Elodie Yung as Elektra, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. Marco Ramirez, the series’ showrunner, rounded out the group of panellists (I'm so fricking jealous).

Loeb did not give a release window for Iron Fist’s second season, although he said that production will begin very soon. Entertainment Weekly reports that Loeb did hint at the appearance of Luke Cage’s Misty Knight (Simone Missick) in season two. Marvel also said on Twitter that the season is “coming soon.”

Iron Fist, which premiered this past March with a 13-episode season, was the first of Netflix’s Marvel series to be widely panned and it did not resonate to well with fans. The hole thing was not great, Finn Jones struggled to fully immerse himself in the role of Danny Rand, I love Finn, he has a lot of talent, but for me it just didn't make sense casting him (a man that looks like he has never had a fight in his life) as the martial arts genius that is Danny fricking Rand. I hope that the second season will prove different and that he starts to grown into his role.

Following the Iron Fist season two announcement, Loeb screened the full first episode of The Defenders for the audience in Hall H. The series debuts Aug. 18 on Netflix.
