Only 14 years later, but 'The Incredibles' 2 will pick up where the first one left off!

The Incredibles first came out way way back in 2004, before the huge wave of superhero movies (which I think made it so popular) we’ve since seen. Still, that doesn’t make us any less excited for the return of Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. While the much-anticipated sequel comes 14 years after, they will all be the same age as when we last saw them.

Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter told IGN, “It starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on … It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where start this movie.”

A lot of sequels recently have gone through some kind of time jump whether that be forwards or back: Transpotting 2, Cars 3, Logan, and many others all use the passage of time to engage with their franchise in engaging ways. It’s interesting then, that instead of going through a time jump Incredibles 2 will follow right after, a refreshing decision that’ll please fans who’ve been begging for a sequel since 2004. What will happen now that Jack-Jack has his powers? What new problems will arise for the family that has now finally come to terms with their super-abilities.

Lasseter also added, “One of the unique things about the Incredibles is it’s really a story of a family set in the world of superheroes. This one carries on that theme,” he said. “It’s awesome, the idea we came up with, simple as that. … We love to really look at our own lives and look at what’s going on, and find themes that we know will resonate with the audience.”

While the release date got moved up to 2018 last year, this sequel can come arrive soon enough. Are you looking forward to The Incredibles 2? Because I'm pumped just writing about this, I think I'm gonna sit and watch it now. Goodnight
