James Franco's masterpiece 'The Disaster Artist' gets it's first trailer!

I'm so pumped! After receiving a standing ovation as a work-in-progress screening at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, A24 and New Line Cinema have released the first trailer for James Franco’s The Disaster Artist, which tells the true story about the making of Tommy Wiseau’s beloved but terrible cult classic, The Room.

This brilliant piece of promotional material offers up our first glimpse at Franco in the role of Wiseau as he struggles to remember his lines in the now-infamous “I did not hit her. It’s not true! It’s bullshit, I did not hit her. I did not! Oh, hi, Mark,” scene that took a grueling three hours and thirty-two takes to finally perfect, according to Greg Sestero’s best-selling tell-all “The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made,” which the film is based on.

The Disaster Artist received rave reviews out of SXSW and boasts a staggering 92% approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, many of them praising Franco’s performance as Wiseau, and some even calling it “his best performance since his Oscar-nominated turn in 127 Hours.” Lets not forget that he is also directing this flick, showing the multiple talents we all knew he had but sometimes doubted throughout his career, now he is finally showing us what he is truly capable of. The film’s ensemble also includes Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, Zac Efron, Bryan Cranston, Alison Brie, Ari Graynor, and Jacki Weaver.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A delightful tribute to the joy and madness of making movies, The Disaster Artist follows the outrageous adventures of eccentric filmmaker Tommy Wiseau and his best friend, actor Greg Sestero. These two endearing misfits move to L.A. and try to live the Hollywood dream by making their very own feature film, but end up embarking on a wildly unpredictable and hilariously unforgettable production. Leading to one of the most infamous, bizarre, and beloved midnight movies of all time, The Room.

The Disaster Artist will hit theaters on its Oscar-friendly release date of December 1, 2017. In the meantime, while you wait until then, please feel free to watch this teaser trailer twenty more times and bask in its gloriousness.
