'The Dark Tower' Review: Reckless cliches and rather cheap!

🌟The Dark Tower🌟Review🌟6/10🌟

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel

The Film stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, a gunslinger on a quest to protect the Dark Tower—a mythical structure which supports all worlds—while Matthew McConaughey plays his nemesis, Walter Padick, the Man in Black, and Tom Taylor stars as Jake Chambers, a New York boy who has a unique power that the Man in Black wants.

They took King's epic vision and reduced it to a chain of reckless cliches, encased by poor dialogue And rather cheap looking special effects.

I hate to say it but I actually really didn't appreciate the casting choice of Mathew McConaughey as the Man in Black. It was underwhelming and really didn't suit him. His accent made him just seem kind of funny not scary, on top of that he made the film look cheaper than it was (perfect example, the scene in the final act where he's using his powers in a fight with the Gunslinger). I have alot of love for McConaughey in almost every film he's ever starred in, just not this case. I love Idris Elba but yet again I felt the same way about him (just not as bad) and Tom Taylor.

The most annoying part is the fact that King built a magnificent world, filled with wonderful ideas and all they had to do was expand on it and spend the money that was necessary to spend, not even that, just do it properly! Take 'It' or even Geralds Game for example. Rant over! Thoughts??
