'Mindhunter' Season 1 Review: "How can we get ahead of crazy, if we don't know how crazy thinks?"

🌟Mindhunter🌟Season 1 Review🌟9.1/10🌟

Sorry guys I was going to write a review for each episode but that was really time consuming so decided to do the hole series.

This entertaining crime series takes a fictional and rather interesting look at how psychology and traditional investigative field work can be combined to help solve sick violent murders. It explores the idea that psychological profiling can reduce the number of suspects, and help law enforcement understand motive by getting inside there heads ("how can we get ahead of crazy, if we don't know how crazy thinks"). It also reveals the early misunderstandings of criminal behaviorism, as well as the stereotypes that existed about those who studied and applied it during that era.

Full of dramatic and unsettling moments, the series is also cerebral and thought-provoking. It relies on an academic understanding of psychology, sociology, and criminal behavior to authenticate the plot. The late 1970s aesthetic applied to every aspect of the series helps keep it in context. However, it's also disturbingly violent. If you can get past this, Mindhunter is a good option for adult serial crime fans looking for a show to commit to.

Holt McCallany and Jonathan Groff we're a perfect duo made in heaven or in this case a special type of hell, there chemistry was second to none, meshing instantly on more than one level, they made this programme so tantalizing and that's without the sublimanly cast supporting actors who play our serial killers, Cameron Britton (Edmund Kemper), Happy Anderson (Jerry Brudos aka the shoe fetish slayer), Sam Strike (Monte Rissell), and Jack Erdie as Richard Speck. All of the above gave there all and were brilliantly scary especially because they were somewhat portraying real people that did horrific crimes.

Anna Torv was great as Dr. Wendy Carr, who is also based on a real person just like John Douglas (Ford) and Robert Ressler (Tench) and that is Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess, the professor has spent decades researching sexual abuse, rapists, and serial killers (which explains her presence in the show).

All in all it was brilliant, so kudos to Charlize  Theron, David Fincher and Netflix. My favouirte episodes were 2 and 10, obviously Fincher directed them episodes as well as 1 and 9 but that's not the sole reason, they just had everything as well as the Fincher touch. Must see!
