'Gerald's Game' Review: Suspenseful, thought-provoking and bloody smart!
Last night I delved into yet another Stephen King adaptation 'Gerald's Game' (the 3rd out of 4 released in 2017 alone).
This film was rather different to what I have grown to expect from Stephen King but it still sticks to his headfu**ing routes. The Film is based on Kings novel of the same name, about a woman whose husband dies of a heart attack while she is handcuffed to a bed, and, following the subsequent realization that she is trapped with little hope of rescue, begins to let the voices inside her head take over.
Carla Gugino (Spy Kids, San Andreas) gives her all in an absolute breath-taking performance, the production is top notch, suspenseful, thought-provoking and bloody smart, but the style of gore is not for the squeamish and has some moments that are really hard to watch, like make you barf hard to watch.
Gerald's Game is a tight thriller with a very strong psychological core and a cast that is just as strong, Bruce Greenwood, Henry Thomas and a very hungry dog all play there part to a T. I thoroughly enjoyed this film (when I wasn't barfing) and recommend all King and horror fans check this out.
