'I Kill Giants' Review: Brilliant Family Flick!

• I Kill Giants, 2017 • Review • 8/10 •

'I Kill Giants' is a powerful and Emotional rollercoaster with some fantastic performances to boot! The story follows a young troubled genius who's a bit on the wild side; Barbara Thorson is just like many other children her age, she has a very big imagination. But, it's not all fun and games, her imagination helps her get through each traumatic day at home and at school.

For many young people (including myself once upon a time), getting caught up in a fantasy is the only way they can cope, and eventually confront, a troubling reality, and that's exactly what we have here.

Director Anders Walter did an outstanding job on his first full length feature film. The cinematography was on point, the VFX outstanding, the score appropriate and the acting was perfect by all cast members, especially young Madison Wolfe (shining star). It's just too bad the writing was not tighter and a bit more audience friendly -- Don't find out the premise of the film until the end.

This film is ultimately about how children use imagination and fantasy to escape the true horrors of reality until there ready to deal with it there own way.
