'Only The Brave' Review: A Fitting, Devastating Tribute To These Fine Hero's!

πŸ”₯ Only The Brave πŸ”₯ Review πŸ”₯ 8.4/10 πŸ”₯

Only The Brave tells the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite wildlands firefighting team. Hard-driving supervisor Eric Marsh (Josh Brolin) has been fighting for the last 4 years to get his crew certified as "hot shots." Thanks to the help of his old friend and chief (Bridges) that dream soon becomes a reality.

There is no denying that this is an enthralling film from start to finish -- your eyes will be glued to the screen, -- the acting from the likes of Brolin, Teller, Bridges and Kitsch were all out of this world (especialy Teller who plays Crackhead turned "hot shot" Brendan McDonough). Most of the scenes/shots were just as majestic as they were devastating, 80% of the dialogue was brilliant and it is truly a great tribute to these "Brave" hero's.

But, i'm sorry to say -- as it is very hard to criticise a true story of this magnitude, so I hope I don't offend -- some of the dialogue was heavy handed and so cliche that it almost tipped toward laughable: "It's not easy... sharing your man with the fire" and "I went in with my eyes wide open." Then there's also some heavy handedness in the storytelling which kind of made the film feel a little unbalanced at times.

All of this being said, I have to say I really did enjoy the film. For the 2 hour long runtime, it flew by. It packs one hell of an emotional punch, straight to the neural network, causing emotions to run wild!
