NEW BBC THRILLER TABOO STARTS IN LESS THAN A WEEK, HERE'S THE RUNDOWN AND WHAT TOM HARDY HIMSELF HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT!!

The highly anticipated new BBC thriller Taboo starts in just less than a week, but Tom Hardy says it’s not going to be for everyone.

Speaking to source Digital Spy, he said that viewers will be sitting on either side of the fence, not on it, with this one.

‘People might not like this – so accept that, and push that,’ the 39-year-old said. ‘People will either like it or hate it, but it won’t be middle of the road. Either it’s going to go well, or it’s going to go really f**king badly. But it was an effort made in the right pursuit, I believe.’

Hardy, who stars alongside Jonathan Pryce and David Heyman, also lamented over where the idea for the character came from. He said:

‘It came about from doing [BBC One’s 2007 miniseries] Oliver Twist and playing Bill Sykes.
‘To be bluntly honest, I wanted to play Bill Sykes, Sherlock Holmes, Hannibal Lecter, Heathcliff, Marlow [from Heart of Darkness]… just every classical character in one.’

And then boom James Delany was born.

‘But it’s the period drama that I desire to watch,’ he added.

‘It started off as a conversation between me and my father… but the piece is now something unrecognisable from that conversation and it belongs to an entire team of people.’

I mean for me unlike marmite I'm going to love this especially when i already love characters like Bill Sykes, Sherlock Holmes, and especially Hannibal lecter. So for that and many other reasons I'm looking forward to seeing how this series all plays out on our screens on 7th January on BBC1.

Taboo is a forthcoming British drama television miniseries created by Steven KnightTom Hardy, and his father Edward "Chips" Hardy. The eight-episode miniseries is about an adventurer who returns to Britain from Africa along with fourteen stolen diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father.

Kristoffer Nyholm will direct the first four episodes. The miniseries, created from a story by the Hardys and starring Tom, will premiere on 7 January, 2017 on BBC One in the United Kingdom and on January 10, 2017 on FX in the United States.
