SONEQUA MARTIN-GREEN SAYS 'STAR TREK: DISCOVERY' IS GOING TO BE BIGGER AND MORE BADASS THAN ITS PREDECESSORS!
She may have finished up on The Walking Dead (in tremendous fashion I might), but Sonequa Martin-Green will soon be back on our screens as the lead in CBS All Access’ hotly-anticipated Star Trek: Discovery, and the actress has been chatting to TV Line about the show, and how it will differ from previous iterations of the iconic sci-fi franchise.
“This iteration of Star Trek is going to have a different take than the others in the Star Trek canon,” said Martin-Green. “It’s going to be bigger, rawer and grittier… and the story’s going to build on itself. It’s going to be a tremendous journey. Since Star Trekhas always been through the eyes of the captain, to be coming from [his second-in-command’s] mindset is going to be refreshing and challenging in ways that are very thrilling.”
Star Trek: Discovery has been developed by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy), and while details have been kept tightly under wraps, we do know that it will take place in the original Trek timeline, some ten years prior to Star Trek: The Original Series.
Featuring alongside Sonequa Martin-Green’s Lieutenant Commander Michael Burnham are Jason Isaacs (Captain Lorca), Michelle Yeoh (Captain Georgiou), Chris Obi (T’Kuvma), Doug Jones (Saru), James Frain (Sarek), Shazad Latif (Kol), Terry Serpico (Anderson), Maulik Pancholy (Nambue), Anthony Rapp (Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Tilly), Mary Chieffo (L-Rell) and Rainn Wilson (Harry Mudd).
